Ripollet promotes the continuous improvement of municipal services with a collaborative platform of ideas: DigiCanvis

The Ripollet City Council has implemented a internal participation system so that municipal staff can propose, share and evaluate ideas for improving municipal processes and services. The initiative transforms internal knowledge into a driver of innovation and contributes to offering a more efficient and higher quality administration.

Administrations accumulate a large amount of knowledge generated by the experience of their staff, but this is often lost or does not become concrete improvements. To solve this problem, Ripollet has created a space where anyone can share proposals, learn about other initiatives presented and contribute to their assessment, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement.

This solution is documented in theDigiCanvis Observatory as a good practice of local administrations.

Com funciona?

The solution consists of an open source software platform specialized in managing ideas and suggestions. Unlike the traditional suggestion box, the platform incorporates collaborative participation mechanisms that allow proposals to be evaluated transparently.

In summary, the operation is as follows:

  • The staff registers an improvement proposal.
  • The proposal is published so that other workers can consult it.
  • Participants can vote on it and provide comments or suggestions.
  • Those responsible evaluate its feasibility and prioritize its implementation.
  • Participants can check the status of each initiative until it is resolved.

What are the benefits?

  • Take advantage of the internal knowledge of municipal staff and prevents improvement ideas from being lost.
  • Encourages participation and collaboration between teams, involving staff in the transformation of services.
  • Improves the management of internal processes, thanks to a structured, transparent and traceable system.
  • Contributes to providing more efficient and higher quality public services for the citizens.

The platform has been in operation since December 2025. During this period, 14 proposals have already been registered, 75 votes have been cast and five proposals have already been implemented, demonstrating the potential of this model to drive innovation from within the organization.
