The Generalitat presents a plain language guide to facilitate access to procedures

The Generalitat de Catalunya has launched a project to promote the use of plain language to make communications with citizens more understandable. The use of plain language in the Administration facilitates access to procedures and favors a relationship model based on the trust and security that comes from understanding the information. This translates into a better service to citizens, with greater agility and transparència in the processing.

With this objective, the Generalitat de Catalunya has published the Plain language guide and sessions have been held with users to ensure that the administrative documents are understood.

Writing in plain language is explaining information briefly and clearly, without using unnecessary words or technical jargon. The guide includes criteria for writing and structuring and designing documents to help people who create content for the Administration to make communications more understandable and simple. It offers tips, examples and numerous resources for writing in plain language, as well as a checklist for how plain and understandable a written text is.

The Guide is the result of the coordinated work of several units: the General Directorate of Digital Services and Citizen Experience (DGSEC), which leads the project; the Secretariat of Linguistic Policy; the Legal Cabinet; the General Directorate of Digital Administration (DGAD), and the General Directorate of LGBTI+ Public Policies.

The guide makes reference to several resources for comprehensible communication:
