The number of cyberattacks in the world multiplied by 5,5 in 2013, compared to the previous year, and the sale of stolen data moved about 48,2 trillion euros worldwide, as explained in the past December 1 the director general of the Center for Information Security of Catalonia (CESICAT), Xavier Gatius.
In a round table on cyberattacks held a few weeks ago at the Illustrious Bar Association of Catalonia (ICAB) on the occasion of the International Computer Security Day, Gatius said that the current reality is that organized cybercrime has an increasing level of experience, but it is also true that some companies are very vulnerable to cyberattacks.
Last November, the Generalitat was the victim of the most important cyberattack suffered in Catalonia. It was a type of attack known technically as "denial of service of distributed origin." Specifically, it consisted of bringing to the Generalitat's websites a traffic 20.000 times higher than usual on the 8th and 60.000 times higher on the 9th, coinciding with the participatory process of the 9th.
At the same table, in which participated the president of the section of Right of the Technologies of the information of the ICAB, Manuel Martínez; forensic computing expert Juan Carlos Ruiloba; the international vice president of ISACA, Ramsés Gallego; the coordinator of Audit and Information Security of the Catalan Data Protection Authority, Ramon Miralles, and the president of the Intellectual Property Section of the ICAB, Jordi Bacaria, the experts lamented the lack of measures security, especially of small and medium enterprises.

In relation to CESICAT, the Catalan Government has recently approved the previous report of the Draft Law that will transform the Center for Information Security in Catalonia (CESICAT) into thegovernment agency responsible for managing cybersecurity in Catalonia.
The AOC Consortium, through CESSATED, offers services to local public administrations so that they improve the security of their information systems and apply measures, both organizational and technical, to achieve this goal.
