This post is over 1 year old. Content may not be up to date.
We recently published on the design and prototyping platform Figma el Design System or Design System (DS) of AOC citizenship, making it accessible to any Catalan public administration, especially the local one. This initiative aims to promote the reuse of visual components, thus facilitating access to a unified set of design tools for the creation of digital products aimed at citizens.
The release of the AOC DS responds to the effort growing public bodies to adopt and integrate design systems in their digital projects, thus achieving more consistent and easily accessible interfaces for the population. In fact, some organizations have already shown interest in incorporating it into their initiatives.
With this DS, we offer a resource that promotes consistency and facilitates the adoption of usability standards in creating digital services that connect directly with users and simplify the public digital experience.
More than a component library
As we already explained to you in this article about how to improve the experience of the Administration's digital services, a DS is much more than just a library of visual components. It acts as a visual and normative language that ensures consistency and facilitates collaborative work between design and development teams. In addition, it allows rapid adaptation and scalability in various projects, ensuring that they all share the same visual and functional essence.
What to find there
In this DS of citizenship of the AOC, the administrations you will find:
Components (with elements such as icons, colors, typography, animations...)
Design guides (with guidelines for content writing, information structuring, and interface hierarchy).

Towards a unified and accessible user experience
Beyond being a visual component resource, our DS provides a robust foundation for aligning projects with the usability, accessibility and visual design standards that guide the AOC.
With its open publication in Figma, we reaffirm our commitment to the innovation and optimization of digital services in public administrations, encouraging the use of digital solutions that reduce efforts, costs and time, and facilitate a collaborative approach to all the entities involved.
Access to these resources is only the first step in building a shared digital infrastructure, based on best practices and the constant evolution of design and technology.
Properes passes
In parallel, we are working on the next phases of the Design System, with the intention of offering soon HTML code integration options, which will be published on the Zeroheight platform. These options will not only facilitate the implementation of the components, but also they will guarantee accessibility. Development teams will find it technical specifications and configurable parameters which can be easily copied to implement the components.
This new resource documented in code will not only standardize interfaces, but also streamline development processes and facilitate faster implementation of digital projects.
Also, we are expanding the Design System with clear communication guidelines to ensure that the contents are easy to understand and accessible, reinforcing the objective of a inclusive and consistent experience.
