The monitoring commission of the Network of Transparent Governments of Catalonia (XGT) has held its fourth work session at the Diputació de Girona to continue promoting collaboration with municipalities and to promote transparency and open government in policies public

The managing director of the AOC, Santi Gallardo, participated in the meeting together with the general director of Good Governance, Innovation and Democratic Quality, Jaume lopez, the vice president of the Provincial Council of Girona, Pau Dams, the Secretary of Administration and Public Function of the Generalitat of Catalonia, Alicia Corral and other representatives of the various administrations, organizations and entities that are members of the Network.

Some of the topics discussed at the session were the agreement to enroll Barcelona City Council as a new member of the Network and the proposal to change the name of the XGT de Catalunya to Xarxa de Governs Oberts de Catalunya, among others.

Origin of the XGT

The Network of Transparent Governments of Catalonia was created in 2015 with the aim of facilitating compliance with the Law 19/2014, of December 29, on transparency, access to public information and good governance, to the more than 2.200 entities that make up the local Administration of Catalonia. In this way, the Network is constituted as a permanent and stable framework to promote collaboration with the municipalities and to promote transparency and open government in public policies.

Currently, the network works through several working groups that deal with issues of transparency, open data, citizen participation or training aimed at local bodies.
