The Department of Health has launched the project 'Health data to share - Blue Button', a new system that allows citizens to have a summary of data from their clinical history. The project can be found at La Meva Salut.
The Catalan public health system is the first in the European Union to create a tool that puts in the hands of users the possibility of using their clinical data to share them in total security with other health systems or with areas such as research. The 'Blue Button' is an initiative that was born in the United States in 2010 as a digital solution for war veterans to access and dispose of their medical records.
The Blue Button is an initiative that was born in the United States in 2010 as a digital solution for war veterans to access and dispose of their medical records. The Catalan health system incorporates this functionality into La Meva Salut following the standards established by the European Union (the EU Patient Summary), in line with the implementation guides certified by the Integrating Healthcare Enterprise (IHE).
