Itineraries to facilitate the publication of local open data using the AOC portal (2/3)
This post is over 1 year old. Content may not be up to date.
The open data, the data sets produced or collected by public bodies that are made available to the public, have great potential value and are essential to ensure the transparency of public administrations, efficiency and equal opportunities in of creating wealth.
This is the second publication of a total of three with which we want to show you an overview of the state of data open to the local world and propose a itinerary based on three phases to encourage the use of data open to your body. We present the second phase.
OPEN DATA AND ITINERARIES PROPOSED BY THE AOC
Second phase: opening of the platform to open data of the entities
Beyond the supramunicipal open data that we provide by default, the second level that we propose from the AOC offers local bodies an agile, simple and customizable open data portal, which allows you to publish your own data in open and reusable format and at the same time federate them in an open data portal of the Catalan local world.
This phase is designed for those who have or can create their own data sets and want to publish them on the AOC portal and link their own graphic resources: tables, maps, graphs.
At this stage we find mostly large municipalities, although each time small and medium-sized municipalities are showing more interest and are beginning to make progress in the service. Globally about twenty local entities they already have their own data sets from the AOC solution and currently the own sets generated already exceed globally the 150 data sets.
At this level we find municipalities such as:
It should be noted that other bodies such as the Diputació de Tarragona or the AOC Consortium itself are users of this service and currently a good number of municipalities such as Sant Cugat del Vallès, Calafell, Matadepera, Parets del Vallès, or county councils such as Baix Camp, among others, are working to start publishing datasets in a short period of time.
Here are four interesting examples of open data published via the AOC portal:
1.- Actions of the municipal brigade in the open data portal of Tarragona City Council
The Tarragona DDOO portal is one of the pioneers in the use of the AOC portal and includes many other layers interesting such as: weather data, electric vehicle charging points or gifts, invitations and trips of elected officials. More information at Tarragona City Council open data portal.
2.- Empty commercial premises available on the open data portal of Granollers City Council
THEGranollers Town Council publishes in the open data on empty commercial premises available. The information is also published georeferenced using maps made with Leaflet, a solution generated directly by the portal.
Granollers is the first city council to publish this data with an AOC solution and, as in all the new proposals that arise from the local world, its incorporation into the next version of the guide to data set standardization models which currently has 18 proposals that we are enriching.
The open data portal of Granollers City Council includes many other interesting layers such as: ships and plots available in the estates, routes around the city, playgrounds or situation of defibrillators. More information at Granollers City Council open data portal.
3.- Data of population profiles and visitors to the open data portal of Sitges City Council
THESitges City Council has been the last to join the publication of own data using the AOC portal and although, for now, only with 3 sets of own data. It has started with very interesting data.
Specifically, it has published the dataset of population and visitor profiles (from data from mobile operators). This information allows them to extrapolate both interesting topics and daily overnight stays, one-day visits by nationality… It will help them to share with hoteliers to improve management or have more resources to reduce illegal tourist beds / rooms. You can visit it Sitges City Council open data portal.
4.- Data of registration of entities of the municipality in the portal of open data of the City council of The Preses
The case of Les Preses is very interesting because it is the smallest City Council user of the service (less than 2.000 inhabitants). Les Preses currently has 4 sets of published data and uses as a basis for the work two essential documents that are offered among the resources of the service:
Beyond the four examples above, we also point you to different ones links from other open data portals pioneers with the AOC solution, where you can find many data sets parameterized with standard models and data sets with different graphical resources or interesting maps:
