Stained glass windows of the Sagrada FamíliaThe declaration of cultural assets of national interest (BCIN) requires the prior initiation of a file, initiated ex officio by the Administration of the Generalitat or at the request of another public administration or any natural or legal person. Once the declaration procedure has been completed, it must be agreed by the Government of the Generalitat, at the proposal of the Minister of Culture.

The declaration of a BCIN must be notified to the interessats and to the town councils of the municipalities where the property is located, and must be published in the Official Gazette of the Generalitat of Catalonia and in the Official State Gazette.

To support this management, the Department of Culture has implemented the service CLT – Declaration of Cultural Assets of National Interest (Real Estate).
