The intermediate certification bodies of the hierarchy of AOC Consortium they have entered the final phase of their term of validity and the AOC Consortium has begun the tasks to manage this situation, applying the criterion of rationalization.
Thus, the AOC Consortium has created two new intermediate certification entities:
- theEC-Public Sector: which will concentrate the issuance of certificates by the Public Sector of Catalonia, replacing the current EC-SAFP, EC-AL, EC-UR and EC-Parliament;
- theEC-Citizenship: will issue digital certificates to citizens, replacing the current EC-IDCAT.
The expected start date for emissions from these two new certification bodies is January 1, 2015.
The certificates issued by the new certification bodies must allow them to be made same uses than the current certificates. For this reason the AOC Consortium is conducting the recognition processes necessary to ensure interoperability from the first day of issue.

It is essential that enable compatibility with these certificates from user applications: browsers (Firefox), Adobe Acrobat, etc. Also Windows server and client systems through trusted corporate domains, JAVA-based applications at the client and server level, and so on. On the other hand, as we mentioned above, we are managing theacceptance of new certificates at the level of systems based on trust in the Internet (such as, by the main validation services: PSIS and @FIRMA; by the platforms of the AOC Consortium, etc.) so that they are operational when the new certification bodies start the broadcast activity.
