From May 19 to 23, 2025, Catalonia joins the global celebration of Open Government Week (#OpenGovWeek), an initiative promoted by the Open Government Partnership (OGP) that promotes transparency, citizen participation and accountability in public institutions.
In this framework, Figueres will host the Wednesdays 21 May a prominent day under the title "Transparency in local bodies: balance and challenges”, which will be held in two sessions, morning and afternoon, at the Cercle Esport Figuerenc (Carrer Monturiol, 3, 17600 Figueres).
The session will feature experts in transparency, open data and data protection, as well as representatives from public administration and civil society. Success stories and good practices in the use of open data will be presented, and a space for debate will be opened to share experiences and proposals for moving towards more open and participatory governance.
As part of this day, the AOC will participate in the round table "The Open Government Network of Catalonia: paradigm of inter-administrative collaboration in matters of transparency”, with the intervention of the head of open government who will present the common services and resources available in this area. The round table will also delve into other lines of work of the Open Government Network (XGOC), such as the self-assessment initiatives developed by the transparency working group.
This conference represents a key opportunity to reflect on the advances and challenges of open government at the municipal level, as well as to strengthen collaboration between administrations and citizens in building more transparent, open and efficient institutions.
