Queries to the datasets of the open data portals offered by the AOC are now available
This post is over 1 year old. Content may not be up to date.
More than 1200 Catalan local authorities are already using the transparency portal offered by the AOC, which also includes the open data portal. Of these 1200 entities, about thirty self-manage, that is, create and maintain their own data sets.
There are currently more than 300 data sets available in the different open data portals, fifty of which are provided directly by the AOC and which serve us to feed the different transparency portals automatically.
There are already more than 250 sets created by the bodies and they include aspects as diverse as “building permits requested”, “work of the municipal brigade according to year”, “empty premises available in the city” or “population from the city".
How can we know the most consulted data sets, or the most downloaded ones?
The report "Access to data sets" provides information on which data sets are most consulted. It also provides details of access to the different data sets of all open data portals provided by the AOC, and will be updated on a monthly basis.
The report includes information on 100% of available portals, ie whether they are portals of entities that already have self-management, and therefore publish their own information, and whether they are entities that have a generic open data portal. understood as a “default” portal linked to the transparency portal, and therefore with only AOC source information intended for the automation of portal items.
The report "Access to data sets" it is very visual, simple and practical and allows to know the state of the issue in open data of the different existing portals.
The data it collects are only from the open data portals offered by the AOC, often very little promoted by local bodies. However, and if we take into account the data of the latter 12 months, we can see that there has already been more than 20.000 queries.
It is especially significant to consult the groups associated with "staff calls", "processing of budgets and staff", "contracts", and "Municipal register by municipality, year and sex", all data sets that feed the automatic items of the transparency portal.
At the level of own data sets, it should be noted that the first set we find is the "Register of citizen entities" of the City of Rubí, with 326 queries. Rubí is also the City Council with the open data portal with the most queries, exceeding 1.500 in the last 12 months.
Another resource offered by the report is a graph of the temporal evolution of queries to data sets. The query can be made for the total data sets, for a specific entity, or even for a specific data set, and shows the entities where strobes are available and usage values.
The report allows the selection for various entities and / or data sets using CRTL + selection, and to compare the accesses to the portal by number of inhabitants, year and month.
We hope that this report will be a good resource for local authorities, and as knowledge of open data portals and their possibilities increases, both by local authorities and by the public, the data for consultation and reuse of the information is increasing, and at the same time they allow to detect new data sets to be harnessed in the territory.
