The Generalitat de Catalunya, in compliance with Directive 92/43, on Habitats, and Law 42/2007, on natural heritage and biodiversity, proceeds to declare all Special Areas of Conservation (SACs) as spaces integrated into the Natura 2000 network as Sites of Community Importance (SCI).
As a culmination of the process of deployment of the Natura 2000 network in Catalonia, the processing of the Government Agreement for the declaration of the ZECs of the Mediterranean region, members of the Natura 2000 network, of the Mediterranean region and approves its Management Instrument. This Instrument incorporates all the requirements that Natura 2000 regulations determine that ZECs must meet. Thus, it includes the definition of conservation objectives for each habitat and each species of community interest, determines the areas that are key to the conservation of each of them and identifies the possible conservation measures to be applied in the ZECs for ensure the conservation of these elements.
The hearing procedure at local authorities will be carried out throughEACAT. The following will be sent to local entities: the proposal for the Government Agreement, Annex 6 Management Instrument (2 files), a descriptive report, a justification report, a frequently asked questions document, an informative summary and a list of the ZECs corresponding to each municipality. In addition, they will receive a notification in their mailbox.
These local entities will have 45 days to make their allegations/comments/contributions to the draft Government Agreement. The allegations must be sent through the platform EACAT.
