16Jun09:0014:30Training sessions on artificial intelligence and personal data protection (2/2)

Event details

The European Regulation on Artificial Intelligence (RIA), approved a year ago, has already begun to be partially applicable. In fact, the bans on certain AI systems and the literacy requirement have been in effect since February 2nd.

In this context, the Catalan Data Protection Authority (APDCAT) has the responsibility to promote privacy and the protection of people's rights, when they may be affected by data processing. In addition, with the expansion of the functions and powers assumed by the Authority under the RIA, it is also necessary to work on the AI literacy of administrations, their data processors and citizens, to guarantee, in the terms of article 53 of the Statute, "that these technologies are put at the service of people and do not negatively affect their rights."

Faced with this need, the APDCAT is organizing this course jointly with the School of Public Administration of Catalonia (EAPC), to provide an initial global and systematic vision of the RIA that allows obtaining solid foundations for interpreting and complying with it. To achieve this, the training will also be complemented with practical explanation and application to the Administration of the Generalitat and the local world.

  • Analyze the obligations and rights provided for in the regulations based on the categorization of AI systems, testing spaces and the governance system.
