Updated requirements for applying for theidCAT Certificate: everything you need to know

The idCAT A certificate is an essential tool for carrying out procedures with the administration in a secure and digital way. The requirements to obtain one have recently been reviewed and updated, and in this article we explain clearly what you need and how it may affect you.

✅ Who can apply for theidCAT Certificate?

To obtain theidCAT Certified, you must meet some basic conditions:

  • Be over 18 years old
  • Dispose of a valid identification document (not expired)
  • Have one personal email address
  • To do the in-person identity validation in a Registration Entity idCAT or by video identification

These conditions ensure that the certificate is secure and correctly linked to the holder.

🪪 What identification documents are accepted?

One of the key aspects is having an identification document. vàlidThe accepted ones are:

  • DNI (including digital DNI under certain conditions)
  • TIE (foreigner identity card)
  • Certificate of registration of EU citizens
  • Provisional NIE document
  • Passport

📌 Important:

  • The documents must be in force
  • In some cases (such as EU certificate, provisional NIE), it is necessary to provide another document with a photograph (passport).
