Digital Transformation Module in the Local World: train yourself to lead change
La 10th edition of the Open Administration Awards, awarded annually by the AOC, has recognized as leading entities in digital transformation and open government 82 Catalan local entities divided into seven categories according to the number of inhabitants of the municipalities and their nature.
In Catalonia, 77% of municipalities have fewer than 5.000 inhabitants. Of the 82 awarded entities El Morell, Castellfollit de la Roca i Caseres They have obtained first position in the categories of town halls of 1.001 to 5.000 inhabitants, of 501 to 1.000 inhabitants and of less than 500 inhabitants, respectively.
At the AOC, we would like to especially highlight the work that these municipalities are doing to transform themselves digitally because their nature as small municipalities means that they do not have the same human and economic resources as municipalities with a larger number of inhabitants. Thanks to their involvement and willingness to serve, they have managed to improve citizen service, simplify procedures and make public management more efficient.

The support of the AOC and the regional councils
The AOC offers technical support, training and digital tools to hundreds of municipalities with fewer than 5.000 inhabitants directly or through the county councils, the other protagonists of this digital transformation. In this sense, the regional councils of La Garrotxa, Solsonès, Terra Alta and Bages have been recognized this year with the “Support to small municipalities” award for their proximity and support to small municipalities.
