“Is the administration speaking clearly?”: One of the most outstanding round tables of the CGD 2025
The digitalization of work environments is an essential challenge for public administrations that seek to improve their efficiency and adapt to new ways of working. Within the framework of the Digital Government Congress (CGD) 2025, the session “Taking the workplace to the cloud” was consolidated as one of the ten most highly rated by attendees. Held on March 13 at the Barcelona International Convention Center (CCIB) and framed within the theme “Cultural Change and Sustainability”, the session highlighted innovative initiatives that are redefining the digital work environment in the public sector.
Thus, this session highlighted the importance of the digital transformation of workspaces to adapt to the challenges of mobility, teleworking and sustainability. Juan Carlos Gonzalez, head of the Innovation Service of the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona (AMB), and Ignacio Fernandez, director of Technology and Information Systems at Terrassa City Council, explained how their respective administrations are promoting more flexible and efficient work models.
The AMB presented its unified digital work platform project, based on Horizon virtualization technology, which allows its employees to work in a homogeneous manner regardless of their location. This initiative facilitates technological management and provides a more efficient and intuitive user experience.
For its part, Terrassa City Council shared its cloud workplace implementation process, highlighting the lessons learned and the benefits of this transition towards a more flexible and sustainable digital infrastructure.
With a great reception from attendees, this session is consolidated as an example of how public administrations can lead the change towards work models more adapted to the needs of the future.
