The AOC initiates a pilot of inclusive support in the digital environment
The next 29 of October, the AOC will launch the new idCAT website, a step forward in improving the digital experience of citizens. This renovation responds to the desire to do more accessible, intuitive and efficient access to digital identity services for citizens.
Main news and benefits
- Unification of websites: Until now, idCAT had two different platforms —one for the certified idCAT and another for the Mobile idCAT. With the new website, everything is integrated into a single platform, simplifying navigation and understanding of the available services.
- New AOC design system: The website adopts the AOC Design System, which prioritizes the usability, accessibility and visual consistencyThis system facilitates interaction with a clean, spaced design adapted to a diverse audience, while ensuring a coherent experience with other digital services of the administration.
- Improved accessibility: The new website complies with the standards WCAG 2.1, ensuring that anyone, regardless of their abilities, can navigate it with ease.
- Embryo of the new AOC website for citizens: This new space will be the basis of the future AOC website aimed at citizens, where they will be integrated all AOC digital products and services designed for peopleA strategic step towards an administration that is closer and focused on the real needs of citizens.

New: idCAT certified without travel
From October 29th you will be able to obtain the IDCAT certificate through video-identification, without the need to go to any idCAT Registration Entity.
This new system represents a step forward in the digitalization of public services, since it allows citizens to obtain their certificate in a fast, secure and completely online, from home.
This service is only available to people who have Spanish ID card o TIE residence permitThe procedure is fully online and can be done from any device with a camera.
How does the process work?
- Start the request of the idCAT certificate through the portal www.idcat.cat.
- Choose the option of register through video identification, showing your identity document and following simple instructions.
- In a maximum period of 48 hours, you will receive one e-mail with instructions for sign the issuance request, and then do the download and installation of your idCAT a certificate.
The whole process is safe, fast and accessible.
What does this change imply?
- More comfort: you no longer need to physically go to an office to obtain the certificate.
- More accessibility: the new portal makes it easier to understand and use digital services.
- More efficiency: the video identification process is agile and secure, and has the same legal guarantees as in-person registration.
