- Digital Government Congress
“Bringing the workplace to the cloud”: a commitment to flexibility and sustainability highly valued at CGD
One of the ten sessions of the Digital Government 2025 Congress most highly rated by attendees was “Data management, electronic administration and document management from design at the UB”, held on March 12 in the Plaza de la Revolución, inside the Barcelona International Convention Center (CCIB).
In this session, Ferran Abarca i Pilar Romera, experts in electronic administration and document management from the University of Barcelona, presented the electronic administration implementation model developed by the university institution.
With a 14-year track record in the digitalization of documentary processes, and a strong boost in the last eight years with the creation of an institutional hub, the UB has managed to integrate all electronic administrative procedures through the UBeTRAM tool.
The UB's experience demonstrates that efficient e-administration allows for greater levels of effectiveness, resource optimization and regulatory compliance. However, the session also highlighted the difficulties in technological integration and change management within a large institution such as the University of Barcelona.
One of the most prominent points of the presentation was the possibility of replicating this model in other public administrations, offering a roadmap for digital transformation based on robust and efficient document management.
