The new visual identity of the AOC: clearer, more flexible, closer

The Open Administration of Catalonia celebrates over 20 years of history, two decades that have radically transformed the relationship between administrations and citizens. The world has changed: from a paper-based paradigm we have moved to a digital universe, where proximity and ease of use are essential for citizen participation.

With this change of era, it was essential to rethink the visual identity of the AOC. The challenge was clear: make it cleaner, simpler and more aligned with the organization's fundamental values: collaboration, efficiency and shared public service.

The new AOC logo: evolution without losing the essence

The iconic “Open O” remains the heart of the logo, a symbol of collaboration and openness. Now, however, legibility has clearly improved: we have simplified shapes and prioritized what is essential, eliminating elements such as the red color of the “C” and the term “Consorci”. The typography, modern and larger, ensures a powerful presence on screens. Black, chosen as the main color, brings simplicity, neutrality and great adaptability to any digital environment.

An identity at the service of everyone

One of the most outstanding aspects of this new visual identity is its versatility. It allows us to blend in better with the interfaces of the digital services of each public entity thanks to the new adaptable Design system for citizens that we put at their disposal. In this way, the visual identity of the AOC is placed at the service of city councils and public institutions, and not the other way around. Thus, the country's digital project shines brightly, but always placing each public entity as the protagonist.

New logos for services: geometric simplicity and clear symbolism

Beyond the main logo, the design of most of the logos of the AOC services, which until now were quite disparate and misaligned, has been redesigned. They all now share a common graphic line, based on basic geometric shapes —circles, squares, triangles and lines— with rounded corners. These shapes become a visual language:

  • Full circle: symbolizes the administration
  • Empty circle: representa the reception space
  • Filled square: the company
  • Empty square: the platforms
  • Triangle: movement or action
  • Line: connection
  • Semicircle and circle: the person in the center
Geometries that make up the visual language of services

For example, the service Representa is illustrated with two figures created from circles and half-circles.eres, evoking the idea of two people in dialogue, while Alert channel It combines the human figure with a triangle to communicate action and alertness in an immediate and accessible way.

Flexibility and consistency for all channels

Each service is based on a modular grid, allowing vertical and horizontal versions of each imagotype (symbol + text) with stable proportions. This modularity facilitates the integration of the new identity into all kinds of spaces and channels, from the new EACAT to any digital platform.

With this new identity, the AOC reinforces the sense of community and, at the same time, allows each service to express its function in a clear and personalized way.

The new one AOC visual identity It was created to join, serve and move forward together towards the digital future.
