Girona City Council has developed a document anonymization tool that uses artificial intelligence to ensure faster, safer and more reliable publication of information on the portal transparència.
Until now, the anonymization of extracts of decrees before publishing them on the portal of transparència was a manual, slow and error-prone process. To respond to this challenge, the city council has developed a tool that automates the detection and anonymization of personal data using artificial intelligence.

The tool combines AI technology with proprietary document processing tools that allow it to automatically identify names, addresses, and other personal data within texts and PDF documents. Each detected data is marked with a unique label, which allows the context to be maintained and the traceability of the document to be guaranteed.
The system also incorporates additional functionalities such as whitelists to avoid anonymizing certain data (for example, political positions), processing metrics to monitor performance and a queue system with priorities to ensure stable operation when processing large volumes of documents.
The solution is executed entirely within the municipal infrastructure, which guarantees the security and control of the data processed.
