A decade of recognition: the special awards to celebrate
The Center for Sociological Research (CIS) has carried out a survey on the use and knowledge that the population has about artificial intelligence (IA). Among the conclusions of the study, two stand out: the 92,7% of people surveyed believe that companies and organizations should report when they use AI instead of humans and 93,4% consider it necessary for the development of AI to be regulated.
The survey (which consists of 4.004 interviews conducted between February 6 and 15) shows that the 75,5% of those who know AI assures that the uncertainty is the main feeling that this technology causes, 51,2% does it by and only one 27,4% considers this technology with optimism.
In this sense, 56% of respondents believe that AI can bring more harm than good to the labor market. However, if we segment by areas, opinions diverge: 49,2% believe that it is harmful to creation and art, compared to 66% who believe that AI can benefit the field of health and medicine and 62,3% who consider that industry could also benefit from it.
Privacy is another of people’s top concerns about AI. 76,8% “strongly or somewhat agree” that the collection of personal data for sale to third parties should be prohibited, and 75,8% believe that privacy policies are not clear enough.
Faced with this widespread feeling of distrust regarding the use of data and AI, the AOC is actively working to reduce this feeling of rejection. The AOC has developed the algorithmic transparency initiative that it applies to its services and which aims to foster trust in digital administration services that use data and artificial intelligence (AI), while ensuring ethical and responsible use.
