TV3 documentary “Disconnected”: digital inclusion, a fundamental right
On September 17, the Executive Committee of the AOC approved the technical documentation necessary to deploy a new remote electronic signature service in the cloud, intended for Catalan public administrations. This service will allow issuing, managing and signing with digital certificates in a much more efficient, agile and secure way. This new solution will benefit all public workers who have to sign electronically, especially those who do so intensively such as elected officials, public managers and technical, legal and economic management managers.
The first certificate profile to be issued under this new branch of the AOC certification hierarchy will be the TCAT RA (Remote + Advanced signature), equivalent to the current one TCAT P (software), and will be available by the end of 2025. We will be sharing the calendar and any updates regarding this.
Key benefits of remote signing in the cloud
Hosting personal digital certificates in the cloud on highly secure devices and remote signing has numerous advantages that will gradually make it the main certificate management system. The main ones are:
- Total mobility: Documents can be signed from any location and device, securely.
- Simplicity of use and management: Dependence on cryptographic cards and specific software is eliminated, facilitating daily management, revocations and the issuance of new certificates in a very agile manner.
- Reinforced security: The certificates are hosted in secure cloud environments, with robust authentication and complete traceability, which provides more guarantees than certificates on cards and, above all, certificates in software installed on computers that can be shared.
- Administrative efficiency: Document management times are reduced and electronic processing is facilitated.
- Regulatory compliance: The system complies with the legal and technical requirements established by European regulations (eIDAS).
This initiative represents a step forward towards a more digital, accessible and efficient administration, aligned with the digital transformation objectives of the Catalan public sector.
