Renew your T-CAT: on September 27th certificates generated before April 13th will be revoked

From 1 October 2023, T-CAT card certificates issued before 13 April 2023 will no longer be valid according to the eIDAS regulations. Accordingly, these certificates will be revoked. The revocation phase will take place on Wednesday, September 27.

It has been detected that there is still a high volume of T-CATs pending renewal, therefore we ask you to request the new card certificates as soon as possible, to guarantee sufficient time for processing. Contact the Digital Certification Manager of your institution in order to manage the requests.

Some important considerations to keep in mind:

Make sure to install the new software to make use of the new T-CAT cards.
At no time will the holder be left without a T-CAT. You will be able to use both cards (old and new) until September 27.
For those cases where the use of the T-CAT card is not essential, it is worth considering the T-CAT P (in software format) and learn more about the advantages it offers.
From the month of October, we will start the reimbursement process corresponding to the unused time of the validity of the certificate. We will keep you informed about the details of this procedure in future communications.

On the other hand, we remind you that idCAT Operator and T-CAT Operator certificates will not be revoked.
