Sant Quirze del Vallès allows online consultations of electoral months: DigiCanvis
The European Commission has proposed to the European Parliament and the Council the signing of a declaration of principles and rights to guide the digital transformation in the European Union. The Commission proposes to define a set of principles for a human-centered digital transformation. It is a frame of reference for people and a guide for business and policymakers.
The draft declaration includes key principles and rights in the field of digital transformation, such as the centrality of people and their rights, support for solidarity and inclusion, the guarantee of freedom of choice online, the promotion of participation in digital public space, increasing the security, protection and empowerment of people, and promoting the sustainability of the digital future.
These principles and rights must accompany the people of the EU in their daily lives: affordable, high-speed digital connectivity everywhere and for all, well-equipped classrooms and teachers with digital skills, uninterrupted access to public services, a secure digital environment for children, disconnection after work hours, obtaining easy-to-understand information about the environmental impact of our digital products, control over how personal data is used and with whom it is shared.
In the coming months, the European Parliament and the Council will have to discuss and approve the draft declaration. Once this declaration is signed together, the digital transformation approach that the European Union will promote around the world will be defined.
At the local level, there have been a number of public initiatives promoting a new legislative and democratic framework to guarantee human rights and fundamental freedoms in the digital age.
