Decidim Catalonia gets underway at Lleida City Hall

THELleida City Council is one of the first municipalities in Catalonia to implement, on a pilot basis, the participatory digital platform “Decidim Catalonia”.

This advanced participation tool allows, in a simple, intuitive and reliable way for citizens to take part in different participatory processes. In the pilot plan, the Town Councils of Alcover, Borges Blanques, Sort, Deltebre, La Ràpita and Tàrrega also take part.

The project Decidim Catalonia aims to ensure that all local governments have the necessary resources to promote citizen participation with quality guarantees, with the platform Decidim as a digital infrastructure and with a collaborative service and support model within the framework of Network of Transparent Governments.

In Lleida, the platform Decidim Catalonia opens with four processes underway:

The Mayor of Lleida, Miquel Pueyo, emphasized that the implementation of this project is in line with the desire toIt would seem more transparent, sober, less pyramidal and improve public participation. Also to empower the citizenry and advance in participatory democracy, to bring together the diversity of views and the expertise of the citizenry to add and make reality projects with the widest possible consensus".

The Director General of Citizen Participation of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Albert Latorre, remarked that “this digital tool helps to encourage participation and participation: we need to increase the number of people involved".

Project Decidim Catalunya

The platform Decidim It is open source and is designed to drive different participation mechanisms, such as participatory processes or participatory advice. It allows the publication of results of participatory processes with the possibility of evaluation and monitoring, and also has internal messaging and monitoring of participation data.

The service Decidim Catalonia is promoted and coordinated through the Network of Transparent Governments and is funded by the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Generalitat de Catalunya. Its strategic objective is to offer the local world a comprehensive service, in a "turnkey" format that will include support, technical and functional support, technology, training, guides and good practices.

The Provincial Councils of Barcelona i Girona they provide the service Decidim directly. In the rest of the territory, the AOC is responsible for making the digital platform available to the local world and managing maintenance, developing the agreed evolutions and providing technical and functional support. In this case, the support will be provided by the General Directorate of Citizen participation of the Generalitat de Catalunya, The Deputation of Tarragona I la Deputation of Lleida.
