Valls City Council has been awarded the first prize in the "Services finalists" category of the Alfons Ortuño 2020 awards the project "OpenVallsChain", a project that applies blockchain technology to offer interoperable open data, with full autonomy to users and in a decentralized manner.
The V edition of the Alfons Ortuño Awards for innovation and good practices in the field of public management in public administrations has also awarded three first prizes to the Girona Provincial Council, The Universitat Pompeu Fabra i theCatalan Health Institute in the categories “Organization, processes and economic management”, “Transparència, good governance, evaluation and quality” and “Development of teams and people” respectively. In addition to the four first prizes, the jury awarded eight second prizes and two special jury prizes.
With the motto "Ideas that are born to be from everyone", this has been the edition with the most nominations since the first call. Nearly fifty have appeared, twice as many as in the 2018 edition despite the context of the pandemic. The awards honor the memory of Alfons Ortuño Salazar, who throughout the 80s was one of the architects of the public finances of the recovered Generalitat, right-hand man of Councilor Ramon Trias Fargas, former secretary general of the Department of Economy and ex-syndic of the Trade Union of Accounts.
