EURES (European Employment Services) is a cooperation network for employment and the free movement of workers that promotes the European Commission and the public employment services of the European Economic Area (EEA), which include the Public Employment Service of Catalonia (SOC).
To make EURES more efficient as an instrument to facilitate the free movement of workers and improve the functioning of the European labor market, EURES has undergone a reform that is included in Regulation (EU) No. 2016/589 relating to the EURES reform.
This is why a system for the membership of organizations regulated at European level is established in Spain.
The purpose of EURES members and partners is to provide information, guidance and recruitment services to jobseekers and employers throughout Europe.
The following two aspects should be highlighted:
- 1. Spanish entities must be placement agencies to carry out employment mediation activities in Spain.
- 2. Entities wishing to be authorized as a member or partner of the EURES Network must demonstrate that they are a placement agency and have carried out an effective transfer of data from the employment mediation activity in the last 12 months.
