The 4th edition of Digital Government Congress, the event of reference in the field of digital administration in Catalonia to be held on 9, 10 and 11 November, will be inaugurated with the keynote speech by Dra. Nuria Oliver, one of the internationally renowned scientists in the field of artificial intelligence.
Dr. Oliver she is a telecommunications engineer from UPM and holds a PhD in Perceptual Intelligence from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). She is considered by Pioneering Minds (2017) as one of the eleven most influential people in the world in the field of artificial intelligence. The keynote speech that will kick off the Digital Government Congress is entitled “Towards an Artificial Intelligence at the service of society " and will give way to three days of presentations, round tables and workshops that will respond to new needs, problems and challenges arising from the economic and social crisis caused by the pandemic of COVID-19, taking advantage of the tools and technologies of the digital age.
La Dr. Oliver, an expert in computational modeling of human behavior through the application of artificial intelligence techniques, is a staunch advocate of harnessing the power of data and artificial intelligence for a social purpose. So much so, that she and her team have been the winners of the “Pandemic Response” challenge, the contest organized by the XPRIZE foundation that consisted of the development of data-based artificial intelligence systems capable of predicting the transmission rates of the Covid-19, with the aim of providing political, health and business leaders with the knowledge needed to implement public safety measures that would help keep local economies open.
His studies on human-machine interaction, mobile computing and Big Data analysis have had a great impact and he currently has more than 180 scientific publications. Her work has been internationally recognized with numerous awards including the MIT TR35 Young Innovator Award (2004), Rising Talent Award for the Women’s Forum for the Economy and Society (2009), the Ada Byron Award for European Digital Women l 'year (2016), the King James I Award in New Technologies (2021) and the Abie Award for technological impact by the AnitaB Institute (2021), among others.
The inaugural presentation of the Dr. Oliver will take place on November 9 at 9:45 am and people registered for the 2021 Digital Government Congress will be able to follow it online by accessing the platform on which the event will be held.
