The European Union has proposed the creation of a digital identification application that works throughout the EU with the aim of making it easier for European citizens to access public administration services with their mobile phones with a maximum degree of security and maintaining control of the data.
According to the proposed regulation, Member States must offer this European digital identification application to citizens and businesses. A wallet to securely store your electronic ID and other (authenticated) certificates of personal attributes, such as driving licenses, degrees or bank accounts, on your mobile phone. This wallet will be valid throughout the EU, meaning that its holders will be able to carry out procedures in other member states with the same ease as in their country of origin.
