The head of the open government service of the AOC, Ferran Farriol and the computer technician of the Regional Council of the Ribera d'Ebre Albert Pujol have presented the solution offered by the AOC to local bodies to publish their open data. It is a self-managed portal that allows the publication of data from local bodies in open and reusable formats and that enables access to public information, transparency and the reuse of data in a clear and structured way.
The day of presentation of the model of open data of the AOC has celebrated in Móra d'Ebre in the frame of the celebration of the Mobile Week Catalonia that has chosen the Ribera d'Ebre like headquarters for second consecutive year.
The model of open data portal offered by the AOC is agile and allows to have common municipal data sets for the whole territory, as well as the publication of own data, and facilitates the syndication of data from the local world with the platform open data from the Generalitat de Catalunya.
The AOC service also offers structured data models to the local world. In the first phase there have been 5: facilities, street guide, wi-fi points, agenda of activities and registration of entities. They will soon be expanded to 18.
There are currently around twenty local bodies that publish their own data using the AOC portal, with more than 150 data sets published.
During the Conference, the head of the service, Ferran Farriol, presented real examples of the use of open data in different local administrations in Catalonia, such as the cases of Castellar del Vallès with the data sets of wi-fi points in the territory and bidder registration (with data automation between the open data portal and the transparency portal). Other examples that have been mentioned have been the works of Sant Just Desvern (municipal facilities), Tarragona or El Prat de Llobregat with published data accompanied by resources such as maps, tables or reports.
This model of publication of open data has recently been adopted by the Regional Council of the Ribera d'Ebre which aims to extend it to local bodies in the region, as explained by Albert Pujol.
