CESICAT publishes its annual cybersecurity report

THEannual cybersecurity report developed by the Information Security Center of Catalonia (CESICAT), the main threats are the professionalization of cybercriminals, the evolution of 'ramsonware' and the continued theft of personal information and passwords. CESICAT uses the Centre's own experience and multiple qualified sources, such as entities, manufacturers or professionals in this field, to analyze cybersecurity.

According to the document, threats to the network grew last year, largely due to the increased professionalization of cybercriminals and the slowness in responding to all emerging threats.

Specifically, ransomware was the big star of the year, especially due to the appearance of Wannacry, which was able to hijack more than 300.000 computers in a few hours. In addition, the report also includes the continued theft of personal information and passwords, and an increase in cybercrime.eresPionage and hacktivism.
