In line with its official planning, Oracle is scheduled to release on March 23, 2017 the new version of the Java Development Kit (JDK 9). Among other developments, the planned and published list of changes includes do not recommend using the API for Java applets. As reported in the note, Oracle's intention is not to disable the execution of applets, if not stop recommending their implementation, as major browsers are no longer allowing their use. To do so, they will add the tag “@Deprecated (since = 9)” to the classes used during their development.
The AOC Consortium has developed an alternative service so that the Catalan Public Administrations can replace the current electronic signature applets. It is a centralized service that enables the execution of electronic signature software outside the browser. The service is currently in Pre-Production, and we hope to have the environment in Production during the month of September. However, those entities that want to start integrating, can already start doing so by asking the Consortium Integration Support Service, stating in the form the service "VALID: Signature Tool". The integration documentation is available at the following enllaç.
In any case, the AOC Consortium works on the assumption that java applets will no longer be available by the beginning of 2017, and encourages those who are using them to begin work on replacing them.
