The Tax Agency of Catalonia approves the use of authentication and signature systems not advanced for the identification of citizens.

On 8 May, the Catalan Tax Agency approved Resolution ECO / 984/2014 authorizing the use of advanced identification, authentication and electronic signature systems in its relations with citizens.

The Resolution opens the door to the use, by the Agency, of alternative mechanisms to digital certificates when identifying citizens, in accordance with the provisions of the National Security Scheme, to carry out electronic procedures with a low and medium level of security.

The planned systems will be based on:

  • Information known to the individual and the Tax Agency of Catalonia.
  • A register of users and in fractional keys.
  • Keys, the validity of which may be limited in time.

You can find the text of the Resolution published in the Official Gazette of the Generalitat de Catalunya in the following enllaç.
