The city councils of Catalonia continue to lead the digital transformation in the State
The president of the Barcelona Provincial Council, Salvador Esteve, presented the new one yesterday, July 22nd portal of Open Data of the corporation. This project, which was created with the aim of making the data generated by an institution such as the Barcelona Provincial Council available to everyone, was presented as part of the exhibition “Big Bang Data” of the CCCB.
Open data are data sets produced or collected by public bodies that are made available to the public in affordable and manageable digital formats, via the Internet. They can be statistical, economic, geographical… and are published in standard, open and reusable formats so that anyone can use them to generate mobile applications or websites that offer new services.
The platform has a search engine by keyword, format and category that allows you to locate available open data. Specifically, the data is available in different open formats (HTML, XML, JSON, CSV or others) and ready to interoperate with data from other bodies (Liked Data based on RDF semantic language).
The portal also offers a compilation of websites and applications for mobile devices developed from the reuse of open data from the Provincial Council.
