On November 19, 2013, as part of the Smart City Expo, Barcelona City Council presented the idBCN project that allows the identification of citizens by downloading an "app" on mobile devices. The managing director of the AOC Consortium, Àlex Pèlach, was present.
The AOC Consortium is working with Barcelona City Council to integrate this innovative initiative into the authentication and electronic signature systems we are already offering so that it can be reused for any Catalan administration in the easiest and fastest way.
This new leading project that is now starting to walk is an excellent complement to the service that the Consortium has been offering since 2010 of electronic signature on mobile phones using single-use passwords sent by SMS that has now been used in almost 300.000 electronic notification procedures for 290 public bodies that are members of the service. The main users are the Generalitat de Catalunya, Barcelona City Council and the Barcelona Provincial Council's Tax Management Agency, which provides a joint service to more than 300 city councils.
The aim of the AOC Consortium is to offer an integrated identity validation service that includes all public initiatives for authentication and electronic signature on mobile devices, in the same way that in recent years CATCert has offered an integrated system. digital certificate validation that allows you to validate 15 digital certificate providers and 123 different certificate types (profiles).
The systems that it intends to integrate and enhance in this service of validation of identities with mobile devices are: one-time password by SMS, idBCN and PIN24h of the State Tax Agency.
