2012 has been the year of the increase in the use of e-government by citizens. On the other hand, it has also been the year in which the use of telematic procedures by companies has stagnated or even been reduced. In terms of percentages, 43% of the population aged 16 to 73 use e-government.
In 2012, the General State Administration (AGE) allocated 4,6% of the total state budget to ICT, which is a reduction of 0.5% over the previous year. In the last 5 years the budget for ICT has been reduced by about 440 million euros.
The budget reduction contrasts with the Electronic Administration Plan 2013-2015 and with the profitability that the State Administration itself recognizes in this investment. According to the Ministry of Finance and Public Administrations, in 2012 citizens and companies did with the AGE about 345 million electronic procedures, ie about 75% of the total procedures done with the AGE they were done electronically.
