According to the study by Seres that analyzes the evolution of the use of electronic invoicing in Spain from 2009 to 2012, Catalan companies have led the issuance of electronic invoices during 2012 with 44,70% of the total ahead of other communities such as Madrid (26,6%) or Andalusia (5,41%). As for the receipt of electronic invoices, Catalonia is still among the top three communities with 21,16% of the total.
The report also confirms a growth in the use of electronic invoicing in Spain in a market driven by large companies, especially in the automotive and mass distribution sectors. During the first quarter of 2012, Spanish companies processed more than 56 million electronic invoices, a considerable increase over the almost 12 million processed during 2009.
The study also indicates that during 2012 a total of 107.000 companies worked with electronic invoicing compared to 46.000 in 2009. According to the type of companies that issue electronic invoices, 9,87% corresponds to large companies, 18,53% are medium-sized, 35,9% small and 35,68% micro SMEs. Regarding the receiving companies the proportions are similar: 12,2% large companies, 20,4% medium, 35,8% small and 31,50% micro SMEs.
Finally, the Seres report highlights in its conclusions the driving role of the AOC Consortium in the Catalan Public Administration, contributing to the use of electronic invoicing in companies.
