Due to the complete renovation of the university faculty in the first quarter of this year, Pompeu Fabra University has decided to launch a pilot test of electronic voting, with full legal value.
A quarter of the electoral roll and more than one campus will take part in the test and the people who are part of it will only be able to vote for this modality. Specifically, these are professors from the departments of Political and Social Sciences and Information and Communication Technologies, students from the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences and the Escuela Superior Politécnica, master's and doctoral students and administrative staff. and services, such as the library or computer service.
The advantages of this system are found both by voters, who can cast their vote from their own terminals, safely, and usually over a longer period than an election day, and by the electoral administration, that it does not need to organize face-to-face polling stations, made up of members of the university community, as well as the ease of counting, as well as other aspects that make the system more efficient, such as not having to print ballots.
The election process is unique to both voters who are part of this electronic voting pilot process and to voters voting on paper.
Identification and authentication on the voting platform
Voters will be able to cast their votes through the UPF card that incorporates the CATCert T-CAT digital certificate; with the electronic DNI or any other card with digital certificate issued by a certification body that is classified by the Catalan Certification Agency. Alternatively, you can also vote using the Campus Global user (uNIS) and your password.
