The AOC Consortium participates in the improvement of GesCem, a virtual cemetery management system for municipal cemeteries

The application of the tool facilitates the updating of the data of the cemeteries in almost twenty-five municipalities of the Bages.

One of the objectives of the AOC Consortium is to support the projects of intensive use of ICT promoted by the Catalan institutions, promoting the reusability and reuse of electronic administration solutions. Within this framework, the Regional Council of Bages has perfected the computer system that allows councils to manage their cemeteries.

Currently, twenty-three municipalities in the region and one in Osona use the tool, which works in a web environment that allows access via the Internet. The system collects data on the streets of cemeteries, the ownership of niches and allows the agile management of citizen requests. The computer equipment on which the system works is at the headquarters of the Council, which coordinates the system that allows each City Council to have an access code and consult the information.

El GesCem project was presented in 2008 and now a second improved version has been presented with user suggestions. The update, which will be effective in the near futureeres weeks, will include, among other improvements, new security elements, will allow citizens to access data through electronic identification tools, will make it possible to representagraphic representation of cemeteries, there will be the option to operate with other administrations and new report management tools will be offered.

The Consorci Administración Oberta de Catalunya has collaborated through two agreements and the Council has allocated management personnel and has given spaces and equipment.
