The Minister of the Interior and President of the AOC Consortium, Jordi Ausàs, and the president of the Girona Provincial Council, Enrique Vilert, signed an agreement on Thursday, November 20, extending the collaboration to promote the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in local authorities.
The signing will establish the lines of collaboration in the field of promotion of e-government and support to local bodies in its territory for the intensive use of ICT in the production and distribution of public services.

Thanks to the signing of this agreement, 198.000 euros will be transferred to the Provincial Council to promote e-government services in Catalan local administrations. This amount is transferred as a collaboration to finance the costs of the tasks and the provision of e-government services between local entities.
This new agreement expands what was already signed last year between the AOC Consortium and the Catalan Provincial Councils, and sets out the objectives for collaboration until 2009. Before the end of the year, the AOC Consortium will sign similar agreements with the other three councils.
Specifically, the new agreement provides for development actions within the scope of the AOC Consortium's mission, which is carried out on the basis of a threefold line of action:
inter-administrative collaboration services, to improve the exchange of information by telematic means between public administrations to improve their efficiency and effectiveness, that is to say, to promote the interoperability of the information systems of the Catalan public administrations.
common e-government services. These services aim to provide support for projects in the intensive use of information and communication technologies promoted by Catalan institutions, promoting the reusability and reuse of e-government solutions.
electronic identity, signature and durability services, to enhance security and build trust in the use of Internet technologies between municipalities.
It also aims to achieve an improvement in internal management, by promoting the digitization and management of electronic files and facilitate the electronic archiving of municipal acts with electronic signature.
